A colorful abstract painting of a woman with long dark hair, surrounded by green and yellow backgrounds. She has blue eyes and a neutral expression, with multiple birds perched on her head, shoulders, and around her. The artwork features bold, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colors.

hi there, I’m Danielle.

I am a full-time artist working from my studio at Pebbly Beach, Port Douglas - a small town resting on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef.

For many years I worked as a sculptor but over the past 6 years my practice has shifted to painting. The change felt natural, as if the stories I want to tell are asking to flow through colour, texture and gesture rather than 3d form alone.

My creative process is solitary - most days you will find me in my studio painting intuitively allowing images and ideas to reveal themselves rather than forcing them into existance.

Animals are my greatest joy and teachers. They hold an honesty and purity that I believe humanity often forgets. If I had one wish it would be that we all learn to honour Mother Nature and all her creatures.

I paint with Acrylic paint and also weave in inks and charcoal and collage to build layers of emotion and story. Each painting is an invitation to connect with the earth and nature.

I am proud to be a featured artist on Bluethumb online art gallery and share my creative journey on instagram @daniellepiat
